Emily Burglass, M.S., PLPC

Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC)

Who I Work With
I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating concerns related to trauma, chronic stress, depression, anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. You may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or unsure of how to make sense of what you’re experiencing. Wherever you’re starting from, I hope to offer a space where you feel supported, respected, and able to move at a pace that feels manageable.

How I Work
My approach is warm and collaborative, with a focus on helping clients better understand themselves, their patterns, and the ways their nervous system has adapted to trauma and stressors. I integrate evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches, including:

  • Somatic Experiencing® (SE™)
  • Person-Centered Therapy (PCT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2) for couples

Using these modalities, we can explore what you’ve been carrying, how you learned to cope, and what may help you feel more grounded and connected moving forward.

Credentials & Education

  • Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) - Louisiana
  • Clinical Mental Health Counseling - Loyola University New Orleans
  • Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) Advanced Student
  • Psychological First Aid (PFA) certification
  • Gottman Method Levels 1 & 2

My Philosophy

My work is rooted in the belief that clients have an innate capacity for healing, growth, and self-understanding. I view counseling as a collaborative process in creating enough safety and curiosity for that natural healing capacity to emerge. My hope is to create a space that feels grounded and accepting, where we can slow down and move toward meaningful change at a pace that honors your nervous system.

A Bit About Me
When I’m not in the counseling room, I enjoy being outdoors, traveling, baking pastries, and spending time with my loved ones and dogs. I feel most connected to myself through movement, creativity, humor, and meaningful time with the people and places I care about. These parts of my life remind me of the importance of slowing down, staying connected, and making space for ease.

Closing Statement
Reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, and you don’t have to have everything figured out before coming in. If you’re ready to take that next step, I would be honored to support you as you do the courageous work of healing and growth.
