Stephanie Johnson, LPC
Stephanie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Southeastern Louisiana University. She has training in play therapy, is an active leader in a 12-step ministry, and is a Certified SYMBIS Facilitator.
Stephanie is an integrative counselor who bases her practice on person-centered theory and utilizes techniques from various modalities to meet each client’s individual needs. She has experience helping children, adolescents, adults, and families who present with anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, parent/child relationship difficulties, and other parenting needs. Stephanie enjoys using play-based techniques with her clients of all ages in order to explore problems in creative ways.
Stephanie believes in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship and realizes that many clients have experienced hurt from past or present relationships. Stephanie is deeply empathic and aims to create an environment based off trust that allows clients to explore their difficulties, connect past events to their present actions, and build a healthier future. She believes that recovery is holistic and that recovery principles can be applied to more difficulties than addiction. Stephanie is able to balance creating a judgment-free zone for clients with gently challenging them towards growth and the future they want to create. She helps clients brainstorm solutions to their problems and evaluate the possible consequences of each choice so that the client can decide what is best for them. Stephanie’s goal is for her clients to experience peace within themselves and with others.
