Shanique earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans, with an expected graduation date in May 2024. She is a Counseling Intern working to complete her required hours and is under the supervision of Ilsa Araki, M.A., LPC-S, SEP, CFRC, NCC (LPC #5437), 1258 Brownswitch Rd. Suite C, Slidell, LA 70461(985-661-0560).

Shanique approaches counseling from a cognitive-behavioral perspective in which patterns of thoughts and actions are explored in order to better understand client’s issues and to develop solutions. The process often involves identifying and changing those thought patterns that cause a negative effect on behavior and emotion. Shanique has experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families who are dealing with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, marriage and family transitions, as well as academic and social concerns.
