A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is a fully licensed clinician who holds a Masters degree or Doctorate in mental health counseling field. LPCs are trained to work with individuals, couples, families, and groups to treat mental, behavioral, and emotional concerns or disorders.
LPCs have completed all post-secondary training, including completion of a minimum of 3,000 hours of post-Masters degree supervised clinical experience within a minimum of two years’ time from the point of degree completion.
LPCs have passed the National Counselor Exam (NCE) and adhere to a strict Code of Ethics for recognized standards of practice, as regulated by the state licensure board.
LPCs are not bound by any restrictions or limitations within the state of Louisiana for practicing as a clinician.
